During this year’s Milan Design Week, Kvadrat presents Frans Dijkmeijer: The Silent Pioneer, an exhibition at Triennale Milano celebrating the life and work of the Dutch master weaver and textile designer Frans Dijkmeijer (1936–2011) and his relationship with Kvadrat. Curated by Marco Sammicheli, the exhibition retraces Dijkmeijer’s insights, research and compositional languages through thematic chapters, exploring his methods, obsessions, approaches and values.

Frans Dijkmeijer: The Silent Pioneer 
Triennale Milano, 20–26 April

In the first public presentation of selected pieces from Frans Dijkmeijer’s vast archive, the exhibition traces a practice defined by systematic exploration, technical mastery and artistic sensitivity – and the quiet brilliance of the man behind it. Structured in six chapters of his work, alongside contemporary interpretations by three artists, it invites visitors to read his archive not only as a record of work, but as a language of making.

Kvadrat presents In Rainbows, an installation by Giulio Ridolfo that reimagines the Milan showroom as a soft shelter of evolving colour. Textiles, flowers and phasing soundscapes meet in a piece of ephemeral architecture, where colour behaves as it does in nature and in music: defined by structure but never fixed. At its centre is Twisted Flower, a new woollen upholstery textile uniting Giulio Ridolfo’s colour mastery with Frans Dijkmeijer’s weaving ingenuity, inspired by their shared love of botanicals.

Developed by Giulio Ridolfo in collaboration with architect Lorenzo Bini of Binocle, In Rainbows unfolds within the existing architectural framework of the Milan showroom by Alfredo Häberli. Engaging with the concrete columns, façade and linear geometry of the space, the installation is constructed of lightweight painted oak, providing a precise yet adaptable framework for textiles. Tensioned within a geometric, modular structure, the materials range from the dense tactility of Twisted Flower to the transparent curtain textiles of Zulu and Muntin, creating layered spatial effects through shifts in opacity, colour and light.

Alcuni tessuti non si limitano a completare uno spazio, ma ne definiscono il carattere. Interagiscono con la luce, ne modulano l’intensità e introducono profondità con discrezione. Le superfici si muovono tra leggerezza e struttura, creando un equilibrio sottile e misurato. Ogni tessuto è progettato per dialogare con la luce e con il tatto in modo inedito. Questa ricerca si riflette nella Rose Collection di Magniberg e in una selezione di tessuti d’arredo firmati Sahco, pensata per chi ricerca nel design una connessione autentica. Dalle superfici scultoree di Chara e Dilana ai riflessi calibrati di Dhara, fino alla leggerezza avvolgente di Lhuna, emerge un insieme coerente. Proposte diverse, unite da un’estetica rigorosa e da una qualità tattile superiore.

At Paris Deco Off 2026, Kvadrat presents the Loux series: six luxurious rugs crafted for exceptional softness, with shimmering surfaces that interact playfully with the light. Handwoven from 100% lyocell, the series embodies a contemporary vision of luxury through its distinctive lustre, sensual materiality and refined detailing.

The series offers three distinct pile qualities – Loux, a fully cut pile; Loux Line, a linear cut-and-loop pile; and Loux Level, a hand-carved relief pile. Loux presents a smooth, solid surface that beautifully reflects light, lending the rug a timeless and refined appearance. Loux Line is distinguished by its finely spaced cut-and-loop pile that creates a subtle rhythm of lines across the surface, breaking the coloured expanse into delicate rows of varying colour depth. Loux Level features an intricate, hand-carved checkerboard relief of repeated 10cm square tiles, forming subtle variations in pile height.

Introducing LINGER, the Sahco 2026 collection of upholstery and drapes, a celebration of the delicacy of light, illusion, and reality, highlighted by structure and surface. The fourth collection under creative director Bengt Thornefors is an inflection point, reflecting on Sahco’s rich history and the path forward. It inscribes beauty and elegance through restraint and an interweaving of original ideas and processes.
