Loux rug series launching

At Paris Deco Off 2026, Kvadrat presents the Loux series: six luxurious rugs crafted for exceptional softness, with shimmering surfaces that interact playfully with the light. Handwoven from 100% lyocell, the series embodies a contemporary vision of luxury through its distinctive lustre, sensual materiality and refined detailing.

The series offers three distinct pile qualities – Loux, a fully cut pile; Loux Line, a linear cut-and-loop pile; and Loux Level, a hand-carved relief pile. Loux presents a smooth, solid surface that beautifully reflects light, lending the rug a timeless and refined appearance. Loux Line is distinguished by its finely spaced cut-and-loop pile that creates a subtle rhythm of lines across the surface, breaking the coloured expanse into delicate rows of varying colour depth. Loux Level features an intricate, hand-carved checkerboard relief of repeated 10cm square tiles, forming subtle variations in pile height.

Each rug is finished with hand-bound edges, with the option of adding decorative fringes – Loux Fringes, Loux Line Fringes, Loux Level Fringes. Constructed using the Sumak technique and hand-tied knotting, these bespoke details celebrate the series’ craft heritage.

Crafted entirely from lyocell, the pile yarns in each rug are secured into a woven base with the double-back technique, creating a density of 2.7 million yarns per square metre. Lyocell is a fibre produced from regenerated cellulose, a natural and renewable material typically derived from wood pulp. With its fine filament structure, lyocell’s softness resembles that of silk, while its durability ensures long-lasting beauty.

Twelve colours are shared across the series, inspired by the lustre of precious metals and stones. The palette ranges from cool, pearlescent tones of porcelain, silver and oyster to deeper, rich tones of brass, cedar and onyx. The fringes can be dyed to match or contrast with the body of the rug.

“The Loux series was designed to embody luxury through rich materiality,” says Dienke Dekker, Kvadrat’s Design Manager for Rugs. “The luminous surfaces of the rugs engage in a constant dialogue with light, space and movement, revealing ever-changing depths of colour.”
