Autumn releases during Orgatec at Design Post

Kvadrat launches Time Recycled during Orgatec in Cologne, on October 22nd - an evolution of the acclaimed Time 300 curtain textile. Merging heritage with innovation, this launch celebrates Kvadrat design history and its forward-thinking approach. It is joined by new textiles by Louise Sigvardt and Giulio Ridolfo, including a new acoustic ceiling concept by Kvadrat Acoustics.

Time Recycled is an iteration of the acclaimed curtain Time 300, designed for Kvadrat by Erik Ole Jørgensen over three decades ago. It is now available in an updated composition, with new colours by long-term Kvadrat collaborators Aggebo & Henriksen. The new curtain reflects Kvadrat’s commitment to material innovation and reducing reliance on virgin resources, as part of an ongoing journey towards more sustainable textile production. Crafted with 95% recycled polyester FR and 5% polyester FR, Time Recycled achieves the optimal balance of longevity and recyclability.

Stine Find Osther, VP Design Kvadrat: “Some of our products have been in the Kvadrat collection for a long time. They change, but still carry the same DNA. We want to create better versions of the originals, made with the knowledge we have today. Time Recycled is one of the best examples of this. It’s very honest, easy and straightforward.”

Aggebo and Henriksen found inspiration for the curtain’s light, airy colourways in the universal act of picking up stones on a beach. To achieve its signature two-tone effect and deep, soft colours, they recreated these tones in the weave, using one colour for the warp and another for the weft. The 22 colourways comprise warm and cold neutrals, supplemented by vibrant shades of yellow and orange, deep purples, and blues. They complement the versatility of the original design and exemplify Kvadrat’s process-driven commitment to articulating ageless colours. Time Recycled retains the signature soft matte surface, natural hand, and subtle vibrancy of the original. As it drapes in the light, it reveals intricate irregularities to sensuous effect.

For Time Recycled, we were inspired by feeling the texture and the shape of stones and looking at the many tones that make up the overall colour. We started by dipping paper into coloured inks to build layers of colour, then we made wrap tests with the yarn to see how the colours mixed, and finally, we used the loom to weave small experiments. After that, we sorted the colours, working in close dialogue with the Kvadrat design team. It is a contemporary colour palette that we hope brings a natural and calm feeling to people’s everyday lives, and also stimulates their senses,” Aggebo & Henriksen comments further.

Guest by Louise Sigvardt

Guest is a soft chenille upholstery textile crafted from 100% recycled polyester, with a warm melange expression. It combines outstanding comfort with strong performance and comes in a timeless scale of colours designed by Louise Sigvardt. The delicate irregularity of Guest’s melange surface derives from a construction that unites a dope-dyed yarn with a white chenille yarn. Drawing on her work across various creative fields, including fashion and interiors, Louise Sigvardt created the colour palette to further emphasise its soft hand. The range focuses on natural tones, spanning from dark to light and warm to cold, punctuated by saturated pastels such as rust red, buttery yellow, and sky blue.

Louise Sigvardt: “When creating the palette for Guest, I was interested in exploring the spaces where everyday colours meet. Like looking out on a foggy day or at paintings by Rothko, the colour combinations are abstracted, creating endless crossover tones. Guest features multiple variations of grey, with each nuance capable of something different.”

Remix Flow by Giulio Ridolfo

Remix Flow brings the essence of Giulio Ridolfo’s celebrated upholstery textile Remix to the world of curtains. It is crafted from a systematic construction which uses hues from the original Remix palette to create its own colour language.

The curtain is constructed with a half-Panama binding and is yarn dyed. To achieve the celebrated vibrancy of the Remix upholstery in a curtain, each of the twelve colourways of Remix Flow is woven using four different yarn colours: two in the warp and two in the weft. Colour master Giulio Ridolfo selected hues from the Remix palette as a starting point and zoomed into the depths of each one to capture unique ‘inter-tones’ of colour. By combining four of these new tones in each colourway, Remix Flow is infused with a pictorial, landscape-like expression that changes to reflect the spaces where it hangs.

Giulio Ridolfo: “Remix Flow is a chameleon curtain – it catches the light of the objects in the room and the authenticity of architectural materials, and works as a glue, connecting all of the elements together to create an ambience.”

About Louise Sigvardt

Louise Sigvardt is a co-founder of the acclaimed Bunn Studio,
a Copenhagen-based design studio working across fashion, architecture, and design. In recent years, they have collaborated
with the celebrated fashion brands Everlane and Marimekko, and the furniture house Radnor. Their work has been recognised with numerous awards and showcased in leading international magazines. Louise’s background as a textile designer is evident in Bunn’s rich yet minimal approach to design where texture is always a key element. For Louise, design is an immersive experience that begins with a narrative, an emotion or a captivating visual. She cites the application of textiles

as the motivation in her career; “I found out that I loved working with textiles, but what fascinates me even more, are all the different areas of application.”

About Giulio Ridolfo

Designer Giulio Ridolfo uses colour to contextualise design and storytelling; his approach is rooted in observation, materiality, and imagination. To create his signature ‘in-between’ mercurial hues, he assumes many different roles, from self-taught botanist capturing the mutable colours of nature to a rogue anthropologist. At Kvadrat, Giulio Ridolfo brings a warm, southern sensibility to the cool clarity of Nordic design. His role is not only to propose colours, but also to go deep into the design and manufacturing process, understanding and changing the way colour is embedded in textiles through yarn structure.

Giulio Ridolfo’s colour creations are born from the poetic vision and continuous iterations that enable him to capture colour atmospheres in textiles. They draw on a legacy of celebrated collaborations with leading fashion and interior brands spanning many years.
